Thursday, February 27, is National Chili Day, and Gold Star Chili, The Flavor of Cincinnati, is celebrating with $3 3-Ways, all day long, at all of its 90-plus restaurants in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. For the uninitiated, a 3-Way is one of the signature Cincinnati-style chili dishes; spaghetti covered with the hometown favorite chili and topped with a mound of mild cheddar cheese.
Cincinnati-style chili is the food that put Cincinnati on the nation’s culinary map. With more than 220 chili restaurants, more than any other city in the country, Greater Cincinnati is Chilitown USA. Therefore, nowhere is the observance of National Chili Day celebrated with more fervor than in Cincinnati, Ohio neighborhoods.
“It is an absolute certainty that more chili will be consumed in Greater Cincinnati on National Chili Day than any other city,” says Gold Star Chili marketing vice president, Charlie Howard.
National Chili Day is observed across the country every year on the fourth Thursday of February, because there’s nothing the comforting spicy flavor of chili to take the chill one of winter’s coldest months.
